& Sports
The Jacobs Law Group offers a
full range of services for clients in the arts, entertainment, and sports
industries. Kevon Glickman,
Chair and Senior Counsel, brings 15 years of experience
to the Entertainment & Sports Practice, as both an attorney and manager,
notably in the music industry. His ear for talent has been, in part,
responsible for the discovery and subsequent management of numerous
platinum selling and Grammy winning artists.
The Entertainment & Sports Practice is divided into two components: management/business services by Respect Management and legal representation by Jacobs Law Group. Respect Management employs the legal skills of the Jacobs Law Group in achieving real business results in corporate matters with Mr. Glickman's extensive knowledge and experience in the areas of arts, entertainment, and sports.
For the management/business services component, the Entertainment, and Sports Practice handles all aspects of music publishing; music production; management; back-office functions for arts and entertainment start-ups, financing, and acquisitions (e.g. record labels, film production companies); joint ventures; licensing; distribution; contract negotiation; royalty income securitization; strategic international alliances; and merchandising. For more detailed information about these services and a list of current and former clients, please visit our website Respect Management
For the legal representation component, the Entertainment & Sports Practice also represents clients in a wide variety of matters involving entertainment litigation. Relying on our commercial litigation experience, we are able to advise clients in matters of band and name disputes, intellectual property infringement, and business divorce. Provided there is no conflict, there is a large overlap in client base for Respect Management and Jacobs Law Group.
Additionally, Predator Records is our own in-house record label that manufactures and distributes through Thump Records/Universal. The label stands at the forefront of cutting edge, alternative artist development, management, and representation by allowing artists to retain more ownership rights in their music and creative freedom in creating their music - moving away from the restrictions and inflexibility that can arise with the major label system.
